Its all about Android guyz
Its been almost two years that our Lab is developing Android applications.Few of the applications have been uploaded to the Google App Store, and also there are some cool apps that are ready and will be brought to the app store soon.
In the process of development, one of the major activity was to integrate BLE which is abbreviated as Bluetooth Low Energy with Android applications. Bluetooth Low Energy is a wireless personal area network technology, intended to provide considerably reduced power consumption and cost while maintaining a similar communication range. Android 4.3 introduces built-in platform support for Bluetooth Low Energy in the central role and provides APIs that application can use to discover devices, query for services. The team successfully integrated BLE support in the application
In the process some of the challenges faced are explained below:
The biggest challenge was to integrate BLE support to the android version 4.2 devices as there were no API given from Google for the same. We tweaked the existing library and made it compatible with Android version 4.2 devices. It was a great learning for the team.
Another challenge was to implement monitoring of devices instead of always ranging them, since ranging will cause more consumption of battery power. For this, the existing library was upgraded and tweaked to handle this.
Now the Lab is working on some cool and exciting applications which will definitely blow your mind.
Android development was not that easy before, thanks to our team who made everything crystal clear about Android development.
